Hi there, I'm Lukas
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Berlin, Germany.
A few years ago, I relocated here with my family. What started as a temporary contract slowly turned into a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Germany wasn't in the plan for the long haul. As with many expat relocations, it started as a job chance and soon transformed into something far more significant.
The initial months were intense — fresh processes, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more tangled than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, ambiguity, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually, routines emerged. We found spots that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Sundry Maple Bloom
Most online guidance fell into either corporate relocation advice or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family point of view.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Germany.
What This Site Represents (And What It Doesn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Germany
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated when there are real changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Germany continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Berlin or anywhere in Germany, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Cheers,
Lukas
